As the mother of three boys (and as someone who looks at lots and lots of kids gear), I can confidently state that yes, there is less fashion available for boys than for girls. Mums of boys, you may have suspected it and you’re right. In lots of ways it doesn’t make sense – parents of boys like to shop as much as anyone! I look at this way – it’s about quality, not quantity. Now, check out this boys’ fashion round-up and hit the online stores!

Most recently, the mums of boys in the Babyology office were excited about the winter collection from Sudo. Lots of textured layers, a relaxed urban street style and pops of spitfire blue will make Sudo a favourite with older boys (shown above and at top).

We fell in love with the mod-street-meets-vintage style of Kitsy. Kitsy’s Arlo top, a nice play on old-school braces and the retro striped top (above) are winter fashion winners at $18 each.

It started with denim at Kiniki and their collections have gone from strength to strength. This winter, there’s still plenty of denim in the collection (including a fab denim shirt for those who dare wear denim on denim) as well as street-smart hoodies, printed t-shirts and cool trackpants. My pick is the Western Check shirt.

Dutch label 4 Funky Flavours offers brilliant colours, amazing patterns and a Scandinavian design aesthetic. I really like their emphasis on designs that suit active kids – expect jackets with ‘racing stripes’, track pants with details and spunky polo shirts in bright patterns.

Last year we introduced you to Mi Hombresito – yes, a Spanish name but an Aussie label. The styles are relaxed, casual and without over-the-top details – perfect for the ‘understated’ little man.
It’s not a boys fashion round-up without mention of one of my very favourite labels for boys – the extremely hip Fore!! Axel & Hudson. It’s country-club meets Californian cool – the pieces are inspired by golf-course dressing with a little rockabilly edge. I love the knits in their most recent collection.
Still want more? Don’t forget to check out Tootsa MacGinty for colourful play wear, Loop Collection for cosy knits, Baobab for super-comfy basics and The Suitables from Gioia Mondo for clothes to get really messy in. Have fun shopping!

Completely awesome! Now all I need is a list for where amazing shoes are at…
How on earth did you leave “indie by industries” out of your list… It is the best boys brand I know!
I love that green jacket by 4 funky flavours!!
Fantastic write up, Babyology! We love the fashion landscape in Australia that is booming with fab boys’ centric brands. We follow the majority of brands mentioned in this review and naturally Fore!! is one of our fav brands. Milk and Soda have great selection of shoes, Lexie!
I must say, being pregnant with my first boy after 2 girls, the clothing situation completely freaked me out! I thought I was doomed to have a son dressed in car or dinosaur prints! Glad to see that thee is more out here!
Thank you thank you thank you for this. I have been really struggling with finding anything I like for my two boys. Now I have a wealth of pages to look through.
