Kids InSTYLE: earlybirds

Earlybirds has always produced stylish clothing for premature and small babies. We were very impressed with the new unisex range they introduced at the show (pictured below). This new range is made from 100% certified organic cotton, perfect for these little ones. These products will only be available in October this year and sizing is from 800grms to 3.5-4.5kg.

Lynda Day started her clothing range Earlybirds following the birth of her son Jackson - who arrived 10 weeks early and weighed 1.2kg. Having Jackson prematurely, Lynda found it difficult to dress him with most ranges being too big on his tiny body.

Earlybirds has been designed with practicality in mind, easy access for hospital staff and parents caring for babies.   The range aims to provide maximum comfort being made from 100% cotton.  Cuffs fold down to form mittens, keeping hands warm and either have side ties or eyelet openings - every little detail has been thought of because Lynda herself went through these frustrations when Jackson arrived.

The range is stocked in over 100 boutique outlets around Australia so check the website for a stockist near you or visit Moment by Moment who stock many items in the range.

Update - Fashion Scout

We are very excited to announce that Scout recently arrived in Australia and is available through Metro Mum. We love this brand and can now stop ordering via the US.

A real family affair, Scout, is a range of practical and cute clothes for bubs founded by a mum and designed by the grandma. Apparently, even Dad helps out with the website and photography. But the big selling point for us is that all the gorgeous, hand-embroidered outfits are manufactured in Peru and made with fair-trade, organic and super-soft Pima cotton.

The collection focuses on three areas: t-shirts, bodysuits and pants, which is perfect because simple clothes are often all most new parents can handle! And let's face it, babies just want comfy clothes which make exploring their new world easy.

See the collection online at Scout or buy at Metro Mum.

Mention Babyology during checkout to receive a free gift with purchase, until 31 August 2008.

I love giving unique baby gifts and I have to say these little DIY handmade wonders from Creakit fit the bill perfectly.

You need not have a sewing background for these do-it-yourself projects, as every Crea baby shoe kit comes with easy to follow instructions, pre-cut shoe shapes and everything right down to the needle is included.

Creakit is part of the treasure trove that is Etsy, and the shop features both a Summer range - kits featuring from cool madras cotton fabrics and then the Winter range - kits made using bright warm, cosy and soft felt.  Excellent for either a Summer or Winter bub - their teeny tiny toes will be covered beautifully!

DIY Crea baby shoe kits are delivered straight to your door all the way from Italy in an elegant gift box, all you have to do is decide if you're going to sew them yourself or pass them on for the new mum to do while bub sleeps!  Kits are available from the Creakit Shop with prices starting at US$31.20 and postage from Italy to Australia for US$8.50

We loved the new Spring/Summer range from The Emperor's Laundry. The small details really stand out for this clothing brand with beautiful trims, fabric covered buttons and attention to detail.

We had a sneak peak at the new range of Bamboo cotton knits which was very soft and machine washable but nice to know it’s grown without pesticides & fertilisers.  Size range 2-7yrs.

The range of pyjamas has also grown this season to include a beautiful ticking stripe, available in Raspberry Red and Pale Blue and also a classic gingham available in Emperor’s Red and Cornflour Blue.

See Kai Run - new release range for our tiniest people

See Kai Run make the most delicious shoes for our little people. We last featured them in July 2007 when they released 16 new designs. A brand new collection is now on the horizon, tailored especially for our teeny-tiniest ones aged from 0 to 18 months.

The Smaller designs will be arriving in the US this month and will feature the same 'butter soft leather uppers' of their other collections and supple suede on the sole for those not yet walking, or for that crucial first 6 weeks of walking when harder-soled shoes are a no-no.

The soles also have non-slip rubber pads for sure-footedness on slippier surfaces. The hardy suede extends up and past the toe for greater durability under duress created by crawlers. I must say that I generally choose Velcro fasteners on my children's shoes. They are easy to use, ensure the shoe stays on, and kids can quickly learn how to put them on and take them off. The Smaller range sports Velcro straps as well as breathable leather linings. I can't wait to see all of the range!

Keep checking in to See Kai Run for the first releases of this fantastic new range. You can sign up for their newsletter so you're the first in the know!

We just found out that See Kai Run are now in a few Australian locations with prices starting at $64.95. Smaller will be arriving in Australia in February 2009 and will start at $49.95 and Eleven for the older kids, are also arriving soon and starting at $89.95.
