Our top four August beauty finds for mums (and one for dads)

This August, when skin is looking listless and dry from the cold weather, we’ve found some gorgeous products that rehydrate and refresh your skin and hair.

Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Of course the universe can’t throw parents a bone and make it so sleep loss and stress make you age more slowly. Aging is inevitable, but sometimes you don’t want the world to know that your baby had a party at 3am. Olay Regenerist’s Overnight Miracle Boost cream ($39.99) improves skin’s surface cell metabolism, which makes it renew itself faster. The result? That well-rested look you were hoping for.

Max Factor Nude Palette

Pat McGrath is a magician when it comes to the art of make-up, and she’s declared nude make-up the latest trend, putting it on spring/summer fashion runways around Europe and America. Inspired by McGrath’s new nudes, Max Factor has released its Masterpiece Nude Palettes ($34.95), a set of two shadow palettes specially crafted for warm and neutral skin tones. There are eight shades in each palette so you can quickly define your eyes, adding a bit of drama to the usual five minute face.

Avene Hand Cream

My hands in winter are of the cracked variety, and the more I wash them after nappy changes, the more lizard-like my skin gets. Avène Cicalfate Hands Repairing Barrier Cream ($21) promises to repair, soothe and protect very dry hands. The best part is that it’s fragrance free and non-sticky. Sometimes smelling like a field of lavender and having to wait 20 minutes for thick hand cream to soak in is too high maintenance for everyday life.

Amika The Shield Style Extending Spray

Mums who have time to wash their hair every day must be some kind of magic, or they’re doing it at midnight when everyone else is in bed. For the rest of us, there’s Amika’s The Shield Style Extending Spray ($24). We won’t get into the science of it, but suffice it to say, this spray conditions hair and forms a weightless shield around each strand protecting it from dirt, and keeping it looking cleaner longer, with your hair style intact.

Nivea Men hand face body creme

While women have hundreds of products just to target the delicate skin under their eyes, Nivea acknowledges many men’s low maintenance tendencies and has made a multi-purpose cream ($6.39) for face, body and hands. It soothes razor rash, rehydrates dry skin and softens callouses.

Whether your skincare routine takes one minute or 20, mama (and dad), you’re doing it right, and we hope you know you’re fabulous.
