About Babyology

Babyology came about when one mum had a baby girl and realised the gorgeous addition to her life meant a whole new world of shopping possibilities had opened up. If you love hunting down cool, innovative pregnancy, baby, toddler and children's gear from all over the world, Babyology is for you. We aim to provide all mums, dads, grandparents and interested parties with a one-stop site for high-end products from the practical to the sublime and everything in between.

Babyology is not a retail shop and we do not sell anything from this website. We direct you to a website with every post, so that you can inquire directly. We never receive money for posting. All of our funding comes from sponsors. If you are interested in supporting our site, please contact us for a copy of our media kit.

At Babyology.com.au you can do comparative searches on major baby items; figure out what nursery essentials you can and can't live without and keep up to date with what trends are making waiting lists around the globe. Part of the fun of having kids is buying the latest toys, clothes and gadgets and here at Babyology, we celebrate that.

And because there's nothing worse than falling in love with an item to find it won't ship to your corner of this wonderful country, almost all the products showcased on Babyology are available in Australia or can be shipped here, other than those few we needed to share with you and should be available in Australia soon.

Sign up for the mailing list at our homepage and receive the Babyology newsletter. It will feature new products from around the globe, great giveaways and loads of competitions. We also invite you to become a part of our community. Post questions and answers about anything to do with baby products on our forums section.

Babyology is a lifestyle website keeping hip parents and their bubs up to date with the world of baby-related design. From building a dream nursery to checking out the newest designer babywear, our readers rely on Babyology to keep them up to date and in touch.

Managing Editor

Mandi is a Sydney-based mum of two wonderful girls. Pre-babies, she worked in marketing, public relations and event management both in Australia and the US.  Since becoming a mum, her obsession with shopping for herself has developed into a fixation with baby related purchases. After spending far too long searching the internet for great products, she decided to spread her knowledge among the growing band of like-minded parents.

Vanessa Shelelev
Sub-Editor

Mother of one (plus one on the way) Vanessa joined the Babyology team as sub-editor. A believer in work-life balance, Vanessa divides her time between play dates with her daughter, and her part-time job at Canon. With almost ten years' experience writing, editing and reviewing websites, Vanessa is passionate about all things web. With a keen eye for grammar and punctuation, she brings this, as well as her proof-reading and editing skills, to the Babyology crew. Since becoming a mum, Vanessa is an avid reader of parenting and child resources on the web. Vanessa loves working at Babyology as it gives her a first-hand glance at the exciting new products being reviewed. And with another baby on the way, it's not just her tummy that's growing - her list of must-haves for newborns is also ever-expanding!

Suzi Catchpole
Senior Writer

Based in Sydney for the last 10 years, Suzi started off with a Communications degree, majoring in Photography. Retraining as a teacher 5 years ago, Suzi has rekindled a passion for writing - something she explored in her first degree as well as various creative writing courses. With the birth of her first son in early 2005, she became pram obsessed, and with her interest in mid-century design, came an awareness of beautifully designed baby products - retro-modern is her thing. She relishes the challenge of finding clothes and products for boys that diverge from the usual. In October 2007 Suzi welcomed another baby son.

Jaime Purnot
Writer

Originally hailing from Oregon in the US, Jaime moved to Australia in 2001. Having travelled extensively since she was a high school exchange student, Jaime has always had a love of writing and of all things beautiful-particularly furniture and design. After studying writing and sociology at University, she worked in the aesthetics field and most recently accountancy. The arrival of her daughter in 2006 sparked Jaime's passion for imaginative, beautiful baby goods. Sourcing the most innovative and delightful children's products has become a serious mission, and one that she loves.

She ís currently working on her first novel (which could be big or could be just for her) whilst busily carting her daughter to swim lessons and play dates.

Nikki Tandy
Writer

Nikki was a hard-nosed news reporter who turned all mushy on the inside after the birth of her son almost four years ago. After becoming a mum for the second time late last year, she realised that spending time hunting down amazing toys and hip clothes for her children was much safer (and infinitely more fun) than chasing criminals and other shady types outside court. A newspaper journalist for 14 years, she lives in a toy-infested old house in inner Melbourne with her photographer husband, their train-obsessed son, babycino-addicted daughter and the family dog.

Katrina Whelen
Writer

Katrina is mum to four kids under the age of six. Whilst she has always enjoyed beautiful design (particularly the sleek lines of Art Deco furniture), it wasn’t until she had children that the need for things that were aesthetically pleasing and functional and practical became an obsession.  Admittedly, this interest in children’s design resulted in an expensive habit - imported parenting magazines - bought for the sections on the newest, coolest stuff (as opposed to the “Toilet Training without Tears” articles).

Underpinning her life experience, her ridiculous investment in parenting glossies and the thousands of hours spent browsing the Net, Katrina has a background in both Planning & Design and Communications.

Geraldine Cardozo
Writer

Mother of two boys Geraldine Cardozo hails originally from Devon in the UK but followed her heart, and the sun, to Australia in 2002. She now lives with her husband and sons, aged 2 and half and 10 months, on the NSW Central Coast. With over 16 years' experience as a journalist on newspapers and magazines both in Australia and the UK, Geraldine has written about everything from wakeboarding to wine tasting but now concentrates on her interest in design and interiors. As a former deputy editor of Australian design glossy Belle and now a regular contributor to Australian House & Garden and Inside Out magazine, Geraldine gets to indulge her passion for art, design and architecture while taking a sneak peek inside other people's homes. Always on the lookout for well-designed furniture, imaginative toys and unique clothes for her little ones and their friends, Geraldine is excited to join the Babyology team in the search for fab products.

Alexis Klaebe

Writer

Alexis together with her husband lives in rural South Australia with her three children aged 9, 6 and 2 keeping her on her toes.  Being a stay at home mum in a small country town, her quest for cool finds for kids is made only more rigorous by the fact that the world is at her fingertips via her keyboard and access to the internet.  Alexis is one mum that's keen to break the 'country kid' mould and prove that kids that are from the country can be stylish too!

Emma Babbington
Writer

Emma relocated from London to Sydney last year when she decided her 16-month old daughter would look much cuter in a Collette Dinnigan sundress than the tight-fitting snow-suit she'd been wearing since birth. Before having a baby she was a journalist for various women's magazines in Australia and the UK.

Andrea McKemmish
Writer

Andrea is mum to a very energetic 14 month old boy.  Coming originally from NZ, she has moved from there to Melbourne and London, and has been calling Sydney home for the past 7 years.  With a degree in English Literature, her days of reading heavy duty novels are over with exhaustion the only thing she now carries to bed.  Having worked in various industries, most recently in banking, she is enjoying time at home with her son and is always on the prowl for the latest and greatest in contemporary baby accoutrements.

Oryana Angel
Writer

Oryana has a background in travel writing, reporting on exotic travel destinations for magazines such as Australian Geographic, The Australian, Sydney Morning Herald, Qantas the Australian Way and more. Having Gaya in March 2007 hasn't stopped her from being on the road and she has already taken her one-year old to India, Israel, America, Canada, Thailand and on various trips around Australia. She loves sourcing practical baby products that are easy to travel with, functional and of course stylish and fun.
